OMG September 2011 meeting outcome
Last week I attended the OMG meeting in Kissimmee. We had a list of interesting topics prepared. Before the Architecture Board we presented the IDL to C++ 1.3 RTF and the Ruby CORBA Language Mapping 1.1 RTF. Both RTFs went smoothly through the process and the AB voted in favor of both RTFs. Both are now on the voting list for the PTC and hopefully they become both official standards soon.
Having worked on the D&C specification for a few years we clearly see several limitations with this specification. We presented this to the OMG MARS working group and hopefully next year we get enough time and resources to issue a RFP for a new D&C revision.
Than as most important we had two initial submissions for this meeting. First we presented our AMI4CCM initial submission. We got some minor comments which we will address in our revised submission which is due February 2012.
As last and most important we presented our IDL to C++11 initial submission. Just before the presentation we got some feedback from various people. The feedback during the presentation was positive, there are comments, but it seems people are in favor of this new language mapping. During the week we also discussed the relation of this new submission with the new DDS C++ PSM.
I left Kissimmee with a positive feeling, both RTFs went through and the initial submission where received with positive feedback.
